Luck By Chance

Luck By Chance is a well thought out film and the casting has been extremely superb. I think no other cast could have done justice to their respective roles. Each actor just molds into their role so nicely that makes you accept the thought that “patience is the key to success.” Zoya your wait for the right cast has been worth it.Zoya’s direction has been absolutely fantastic and the way she has brought out the best in each of her characters is worth a standing ovation. I absolutely love the storyline and I’m glad that she didn’t end it like a typically happy ending story.

It is very much a thought provoking film and it shows the sparkling tinsel town in a way it has not been portrayed before and the funny fact is that almost all of it is so real that you cannot dismiss it merely as a work of fiction. She has portrayed the squalor and the dinginess with a certain positive vibe that people still retain some sort of hope and they do not give up on their aspirations easily. Sure they do make compromises but atleast they have given their best shot and then failed and this reminds me of some lines from Ruskin bond’s poetry “A man who fails well is better than one who succeeds badly”

Farhan just portrayed his character so intensely that sometimes I seriously wonder why he didn’t pursue acting earlier. But as the wise men say it is better late than never. Farhan plays the role of Vikram who is the tragic protagonist of the story and I feel he is quite like Macbeth. We loathe him for his cruelty and his ambitious deeds and yet he retains our sympathy till the end as we believe that circumstances were such that there was no other way for him o follow. He brilliantly portrayed the ruthlessness in his character and yet he could sweep you off your feet with his charismatic manners.Konkona as Sona was at her best ever. She beautifully portrayed a struggler who had run away from her home to live her dreams. Her character and the struggle she had to face remind me of these lines from a poem by Yeats “Tread softly because you tread upon my dreams.” I think these lines just say how brilliantly she played her role.Apart from them the others like Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia still graced the screen with their charm and showed that “old age hath yet his honor and his toil”. Juhi Chawla still bedazzles with her beautiful smile and brilliant performance. Hrithik just put the exact amount of finesse that was required. Above all it was a good film with brilliant cinematography and good music. Way to go Zoya.
